Moxie is named in honor and  memory of a young firefighter/paramedic who tragically lost his life last fall...  and she is just the sweetest, most loving, playful, purrball of a kitten who is looking for a family to love her furrever!
Moxie was one of 9 kittens born to a stray kitty a family had been feeding for awhile; when it got so cold with bitterly sub zero weather during the Christmas holidays in Dec. 2017, they brought her into the house because they were afraid she would freeze to death.  They had NO IDEA this kitty was pregnant!  But low and behold, on Dec. 26, this beautiful kitty gave birth to the 9 tiny kittens!   They kept an eye on her and the babies but left her to care for them so they didn't frighten her... but a couple days later they realized something was wrong - very wrong!  They rushed her and the kittens to the vet office and it was discovered she didn't deliver all of the afterbirth and this poor sweet mama was septic, and full of infection!  They weren't sure they could save her, but thankfully they were able to - only she had been so infected it affected her milk supply and what milk she did have was more-than-likely infected, which could be passed onto the babies.
Three vet techs divided up the kittens by 3's and took 3 kittens home each to bottle feed them and called Last Hope foster families in the Waterloo area to see if we could help bottle feed them or if we knew of anyone with nursing mamas... which would be rare the end of December as it is not typically the time of year to have nursing mamas.  As luck would have it though, LHAR did have 2 mamas with kittens who were about weaned, so we put those kittens in with those 2 mamas.  Tragically, within a few days, 3 of them passed away, and within a week, another 2 died, but thankfully 4 precious little ones DID survive, and Moxie is one of those little survivors!
It has been a joy watching them grow up!  They were and are the most adorable group of babies and Moxie is the cutest little Black & White girl!  She has some itty bitty dots of black and then larger areas, too!  She is super sweet, just like her other three littermates!  She is the only kitten left from the litter and she is more than ready to have a family find her and love her furrever!
If you like kisses from your kitties, she likes to show her affection by giving tiny baby kisses on your face or hand!  She is only 4 1/2 months old as of May 11, and loves kids, people and other kitties, and if properly introduced, should probably get along fine with dogs, too.  She loves to bat toys around, jump in the air, chase her littermates, and race around a room... in other words, she enjoys being a typical kitten! If you don't have another kitty or animal in the house, we HIGHLY recommend adopting kittens in pairs!  It gives them someone to play with, romp and chase as well as a snuggle and cuddle buddy!   'Until there are none, please adopt one; So they aren't blue, why not adopt two?"    (author unknown) 
Moxie is completely vetted... she is spayed, has had 3 FVRCP vaccinations, her rabies vaccination, has been dewormed and treated for parasites, her mama was negative for FeLV/FIV so the kittens will be, too, but she was also tested individually for FeLV and was negative.  She is microchipped, and it has a free lifetime registration, too!  LHAR will register it for you, and you would only need to contact the company to update any changes in your life, such as your name, address or phone number so it is always current.  Her adoption fee is $100.00.
